So, what's a nice Jewish girl from Brooklyn who has lived in Maine for the past 20 years doing singing a song by Hazel Dickens (Workin' Girl Blues)? The answer lies in the tapestry of music that has been woven into her life, through her associations with other folksingers, whether as a performer herself or, as a booking agent and artists' representative.
Dale Robin describes herself as a song hunter. In this, her first solo album (She previously recorded two CDs with Mom's Home Cookin' See WI-004, "Give Me The Roses") she has brought together a collection of some of her favorites. They range from silly to poignant, from traditional to newly written, including the title song, A Taste of You, which includes the line "Sweet and Salty."
Now that she's reached a time and place where she can consider and act upon new beginnings, this project represents her new life as a performer of the music she has always cherished.
Ably accompanied by: Don Barry (bass), Andy Cohen (guitar), John Cote (drums), Jonathan Danforth (Bones, Fiddle, Viola and whistling), "Ragtime" Jack Radcliffe (piano), Don Wessels (harmonica) and Gail Wiegner (vocals).
Recorded at Sounds Interesting Studios in Middleboro, Mass. |
